Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery PRN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of Texas or compact Certifications: BLS required (AHA only) Must-Have: Current certifications in Electronic Fetal Monitoring, STABLE, NRP, and ACLS required Description: The competent Nurse, in a similar clinical setting, practices independently. Demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care. Has the ability to plan for long-range goals. Develops the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers. Meets expectations of applicable Competencies. Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Uses the appropriate protocol to administer medications and treatments. Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers. Identifies issues and resources. Newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member. Initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary. Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.
