Job Title: RN - L&D Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital L&D experience License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, IFMC or AWHONN preferred Description: This is a travel RN position in a labor and delivery setting. The unit has 20 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) beds and 2 operating rooms. There are 50 staff members on the unit, including a night shift charge nurse, 5 RNs, 1 surgical tech, and 1 admissions control tech. The patient ratios are 1-2:1 for labor and 3-4:1 for postpartum. The staffing includes RNs, certified surgical technologists, and admissions control techs with a separate lactation RN team to support breastfeeding. Equipment used includes GE fetal monitors, Monica Novii, and Alaris pumps. The documentation system utilized is CPN and Meditech. Daily nurse leader rounding ensures that patients receive excellent care. Bedside shift reports, communication boards, and rounding are incorporated into patient experience requirements. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of current acute care hospital L&D experience. Preferred skills include OR circulating experience and labor positioning/Spinning Babies experience. Candidates should possess skills in managing OB emergencies. Typical procedures include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, non-stress tests, and circumcisions. Excellent communication with staff and providers is essential. This environment values 1:1 labor support and active management of labor.
