Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor & Delivery team in Lancaster, Ohio. This role is integral to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to expectant mothers, new mothers, and their newborns throughout the entire perinatal journey, including labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phases.
The successful candidate will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care. This includes monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, assisting with deliveries, managing postpartum recovery, and providing essential education and support to patients and their families.
This position requires a commitment to patient safety, adherence to established clinical guidelines, and effective collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes for all patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for each patient according to the established nursing process.
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care based on individual assessment needs and the established plan of care.
- Deliver comprehensive education to patients and their families/significant others from admission through the discharge process.
- Maintain thorough, concise, accurate, and legible documentation of the nursing process and patient care.
- Promptly notify physicians of pertinent observations and any changes in the patient's status.
- Administer medications and perform treatments in an accurate and safe manner, adhering to all protocols.
- Implement physician orders as written and ensure timely execution.
- Assure that necessary equipment and supplies are readily available for patient care, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate department.
- Accept responsibility for the direction of co-workers and delegate role-appropriate tasks in the implementation of care.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous Registered Nursing experience, particularly in a Labor & Delivery setting.
