Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 18:30 - 07:00 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Compact or state license required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRPS Must-Have: Experience in Labor and Delivery, strong assessment skills Description: Please ensure the traveler is aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting the role, the unit manager may assign the traveler to an “Emergency Team.” There will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or to be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed during emergency events, as impacts vary. By signing the travel contract, the traveler accepts these terms and will report as assigned by the immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. Travelers should not apply if they are not comfortable with the above conditions. The shift consists of 3x12-hour shifts with a patient ratio of 1:2. The daily census is approximately 5 patients. The unit has 12 rooms and weekend coverage is required every other weekend. The unit will accept first-time travelers. Patient diagnoses include labor, pre-eclampsia, preterm premature rupture of membranes, and other obstetrical emergencies. Special procedures include being a C-section circulator and providing initial newborn care. Travelers will also assist in staffing the triage area responsible for evaluating a variety of pregnancy-related concerns. Nurses must be comfortable with rapid assessments and able to perform medical screening exams and fetal monitoring. Responsibilities include managing labor checks, decreased fetal movement, hypertension concerns, and ruptured membranes. The candidate must possess skills related to the administration of medications, including anticoagulants and antihypertensives. Experience with cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and postpartum care is essential. The candidate must be capable of handling high-risk deliveries and be familiar with the use of special equipment. This position involves working with a multidisciplinary team and requires effective communication skills. Candidates must be able to perform various assessments and interventions related to obstetrical care. The unit values adaptability and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
