Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position located in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves providing comprehensive care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day. The position requires working the nights shift, with a schedule of 12 hours per shift, and a minimum of 36 hours per week.

- Required Qualifications: Current (within previous 2 years) Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) and Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience; current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications; licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Virginia or applicable jurisdiction.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience at facilities with 3000 births per year; familiarity with Novii monitors, iMobile, and other unit-specific equipment.
- Additional Information: Unit type: Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (L&D); Responsibilities include labor, delivery, recovery, triage, antepartum, circulating for C-section, and first-hour baby care, including breastfeeding assistance. The unit maintains a staffing ratio aligned with American Association of Workforce (AWHONN) guidelines, which may range from 1:1 to 3:1 based on acuity. The team comprises approximately 70 staff members, including RNs, surgical technicians, hospitalist and midwife coverage, anesthesia, and neonatologists.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs and closed-toe shoes; tattoos and piercings must be covered.
- Unit Environment: Equipped with Novii monitors, iMobile, headsets, pass-through skin-to-skin C-section drapes, deep soaker tubs, light therapy, and aroma therapy. The hospital operates 24/7 with dedicated coverage from hospitalists, midwives, anesthesia, and neonatologists.
