Job Title: Interventional Radiology RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 16 weeks Shift: 12H Days, 3x12s + call rotation Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ventilator and pressor management skills for procedure rooms. Epic experience required. Description: The unit has 3 operation rooms, with a 4th currently under construction. The new room is expected to be complete in March. The average number of cases per day is around 17 in the Cath Labs, totaling 22-23 when including all other areas and procedures. Common diagnoses include Vascular, Neuro, EP, Cardiology, and IR. In the Cath Lab, procedures include diagnostic and intervention services, rotablator and shockwave therapies. Next year will introduce impella procedures. Procedures will also include diagnostic right heart evaluations in preparation for structural work at other facilities. Interventional Radiology tasks consist of managing ports, G tubes, drains, nephrostomies, biliary drains, and dialysis lines. Less frequent procedures include embolizations and coiling. In Electrophysiology, ablations, device implantations, and temporary pacemaker insertions are common. Anesthesia is present for all Electrophysiology cases, and travelers will assist only if skills have been validated. Procedure nurses will be responsible for circulating and monitoring patients. Recovery nurses will manage post-procedure recovery in a 17-bed area. Bone marrow aspirations, bronchoscopy, and cardioversions are conducted in the recovery room, requiring recovery nurses to perform conscious sedation. The nursing staff is expected to float to CT, Ultrasound, or MRI to assist with procedures. The team includes 10 technicians daily, adequately covering Cath Lab and IR areas. On call duty includes being available one night a week and every 3rd or 4th weekend. Each staff member will take approximately one holiday per year, rotated with permanent staff. There is a mandatory on-call requirement, with response times of 30 minutes for procedure nurses and techs and 45 minutes for recovery nurses. Nurses may float to other areas on a voluntary basis only. Nurses will receive a 2-week orientation, depending on traveler experience. Buddy call will be provided for the first 3-4 weeks.
