Travel RN – Cardiac Surgery Intermediate / Step Down (Nights)

Contract | Travel | Night Shift (19:00–07:00) | 13-Week Assignment | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for cardiac/thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, respiratory distress, alcohol withdrawal, and insulin drip patients
  • Monitor and manage patients using specialized equipment including Philips monitors, chest tubes, arterial lines, wound vacs, pacer boxes, pacing wires, EKOS, Nicom, BiPAP, and Airvo
  • Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and maintain professional accountability
  • Float on a rotational basis to critical care cluster or med/surg units as required
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable nursing practice standards
Required Qualifications
  • Current RN license; must be eligible for or currently hold licensure in the state of Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient Step Down / PCU experience
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required November 1 through April 1 (declinations not accepted)
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience caring for cardiac and thoracic surgery or vascular surgery patient populations
  • Familiarity with EPIC EMR
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team player in a fast-paced clinical environment
