Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Neurology & Neurosurgery)

Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity unit serving Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Stepdown patients with a focus on Neurology and Neurosurgery populations including strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, and brain and spinal cord tumors
- Manage patient ratios of 1:5 (MS/Tele days), 1:6 (MS/Tele nights), and 1:3–4 (Stepdown days and nights), caring for up to five Med Surg patients as needed
- Administer and monitor IV drips across all floors in accordance with facility protocols
- Utilize EPIC electronic health record system for all clinical documentation and charting
- Float frequently to other units and campuses as directed to meet staffing needs, within scope of practice
- Fulfill weekend and holiday shift requirements as defined by unit policy, including 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period and 2 out of 3 major holidays
Required Qualifications- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending Nebraska RN state license accepted; if not in hand at time of submission, start date will be booked six weeks out)
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
- Demonstrated experience with IV drip administration
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record charting
- Ability and willingness to float to various units and campuses to meet facility staffing needs
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (may be considered in lieu of prior travel nursing experience for first-time travelers)
- Background in Neurology, Neurosurgery, or care of complex neurological patient populations
- Familiarity with long-term EEG monitoring environments
