    Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts | 36 Guaranteed Hours Per Week

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a Step Down / PCU setting, managing a diverse patient population including sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical patients (urology, abdominal, ortho)
    • Initiate, titrate, and monitor drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips
    • Perform telemetry interpretation and pass required telemetry competency testing
    • Float within skillset as needed, including potential cross-campus float with a minimum of 2 hours notice
    • Adhere to every-third-weekend and every-other-holiday scheduling requirements
    • May be required to precept nursing students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
    Required Qualifications
    • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of Step Down / PCU experience
    • At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
    • Current, active compact RN license required
    • AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
    • Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret telemetry and manage drip initiation and titration
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, blood product administration, continuous BiPAP, and neutropenic precautions
    • Familiarity with stable home vents and management of stable drips such as Lasix and Protonix
    • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
    • Collaborative, team-oriented attitude with strong interpersonal skills
