Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit with a primary focus on heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patient populations
  • Maintain safe and effective RN-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 while managing complex care needs
  • Administer and monitor drips including Heparin, PCAs, and 3% Sodium with no titration required
  • Utilize specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo devices; perform EKG strip reading and telemetry monitoring
  • Float across multiple campuses as required to support staffing needs
  • Participate in required holiday coverage for designated summer holidays unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 24 months of recent experience in a Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care setting within a hospital or medical center
  • Experience in neurology and/or neurosurgery patient care
  • Experience in orthopedic patient care
  • Drip experience with Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na
  • EKG, strip reading, measuring, and telemetry experience
  • Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
  • Active AHA or ARC ACLS certification
  • Active AHA or ARC BLS certification
  • EPIC EMR experience
  • Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the previous 12 months (no first-time travelers)
  • Valid Driver's License
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Trauma Level I care experience
  • Proficiency with specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo
  • De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
  • NIHSS certification (can be obtained during onboarding)
