Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit with a primary focus on heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patient populations
- Maintain safe and effective RN-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 while managing complex care needs
- Administer and monitor drips including Heparin, PCAs, and 3% Sodium with no titration required
- Utilize specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo devices; perform EKG strip reading and telemetry monitoring
- Float across multiple campuses as required to support staffing needs
- Participate in required holiday coverage for designated summer holidays unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications- Minimum 24 months of recent experience in a Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care setting within a hospital or medical center
- Experience in neurology and/or neurosurgery patient care
- Experience in orthopedic patient care
- Drip experience with Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na
- EKG, strip reading, measuring, and telemetry experience
- Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
- Active AHA or ARC ACLS certification
- Active AHA or ARC BLS certification
- EPIC EMR experience
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the previous 12 months (no first-time travelers)
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Experience / Skills- Trauma Level I care experience
- Proficiency with specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo
- De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
- NIHSS certification (can be obtained during onboarding)
