Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) nurse position in Wausau, Wisconsin. This 13-week assignment involves day shifts in an observation unit focused on inpatient care. The role includes managing a 1:4 patient ratio on an 8-bed unit, with responsibilities such as reading and interpreting electrocardiogram strips and administering various drips. It requires adherence to clinical standards and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin registered nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Must have at least 3 years of clinical experience, including at least one travel assignment, and be comfortable interpreting electrocardiogram strips.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in observation units, step-down, or medical-surgical/telemetry units; ability to interpret strips and manage drips such as Cardiac Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin.
  • Additional Information:
    • 13-week assignment starting on 07/27/2026.
    • Shift requirements include 12-hour afternoon shifts, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM.
    • Float to all inpatient units as needed.
    • Every other weekend and holiday work required.
    • Must pass an EKG exam during compliance.
    • Candidate must be resilient, adaptable, collaborative, and capable of working independently with a positive attitude.
    • Scrub color: Any.
    • During flu season, travelers declining vaccination are required to wear masks at all times in accordance with policy.
