Job Title

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a Medical Intensive Care Unit setting with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex diagnoses including sepsis, DKA, COPD, and heart failure
  • Monitor and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, including hemodynamic monitoring via arterial lines, central venous pressure monitoring, and invasive monitoring
  • Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, administer continuous IV sedation, and manage procedural sedation administration and monitoring
  • Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, suctioning, and interpretation of arterial blood gases
  • Perform and assist with specialized procedures including central line care, chest tube insertion/removal, blood product administration, and TPN/lipids administration
  • Float to MedSurg as needed and fulfill weekend shift requirements (every other weekend; minimum 6 weekend shifts per contract)
Required Qualifications
  • Active NC or Compact RN license (pending license acceptable for submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Proficiency with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience with EPIC documentation, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication
  • Ability to complete pre-start online modules prior to start date using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), Neuro ICU, or Surgical ICU settings
  • Familiarity with PICC line management, thermoregulation protocols, and post cardiac surgery care
  • Previous charge nurse experience and/or community hospital background
  • Experience with GI surgery patients
