Job Title: Registered Nurse I Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: Direct Hire Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of Critical Care Nursing experience License: Valid multi-state or state Registered Nurse License Certifications: Current or Recent ICU/ER Experience Must-Have: - Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways - Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills - Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner - Detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data Description: The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care. This is done utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures. The purpose is to monitor and evaluate patient functional status. Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients. Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Documents steps of the nursing process accurately. Utilizes proper medical terminology in all communications. Addresses problems and tracks progress toward goals effectively. Facilitates patient discharge through timely and appropriate referrals. Utilizes patient education resources that are suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate for comprehensive care. Supports unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities. This is evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Makes independent judgments in decision-making from many diversified alternatives. These decisions are subject to general review in the final stages only. Coordinates activities involving direct patient contact. Leads others in the same work performed without direct supervision. Provides input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or deliver them. Engages directly with patients and/or customers. Interacts with internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face. Collaborates frequently with other healthcare professionals and staff, including individuals at the director level or above.
