Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and record initial patient assessments, establish care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs, and reassess patients systematically to identify trends requiring intervention.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized, measurable plans of care consistent with nursing standards, modifying plans based on patient outcomes and clinical findings.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of clinical facts and patient evaluations; perform Point of Care testing procedures as required.
  • Coordinate team assignments and delegate unit work appropriately, following up on delegated tasks to ensure quality and completeness of patient care.
  • Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning, implementing and documenting timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
  • Promote a positive, professional work environment; serve as a resource to staff, physicians, and visitors while supporting unit growth, organizational goals, and continuous service improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
  • Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the AHA.
  • Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care or ICU setting.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Current knowledge and clinical skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served in a critical care environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, adapting communication style to the developmental age of the patient.
  • Experience with floating to additional units or locations as needed.
