Job Title
Registered Nurse – ICU/PCU Float
LocationRoanoke, VA
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Key Responsibilities- Float between ICU and PCU units as staffing needs are re-evaluated every four hours; candidates must be comfortable working all ICU and PCU units
- Provide direct patient care in ICU settings at a 2:1 ratio and PCU settings at a 5:1 ratio
- Manage IV therapy including arterial lines, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and IV initiation and maintenance
- Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Support respiratory needs including BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilated patient care
- Perform cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care with drains or wound vacs, and IV insulin protocol adherence
Required Qualifications- Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Demonstrated ICU clinical experience is required
- Experience at a large Level I or Level II facility required
- Must be willing to work one holiday per 13-week contract period and meet weekend shift requirements (every other weekend or six weekend shifts per six-week scheduling block)
Preferred Experience / Skills- Two or more years of ICU nursing experience preferred
- Experience floating across multiple critical care and step-down unit types
