Registered Nurse – ICU (Critical Care Float Pool)
LocationNewport News, VA
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Nights (3x12 Hours, 19:00–07:00) | Onsite | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday); holiday availability required during assignment period
Key Responsibilities- Float across multiple critical care units including Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Cardiac Care Unit, and Oncology ICU based on facility needs
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients including trauma, surgical, neurological, cardiac, oncology, and medically complex populationsCare for patients presenting with DKA, ETOH withdrawal, chemo inductions, and other conditions requiring an elevated level of care
- Monitor and manage patients following cardiac procedures requiring additional observation
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly using EPIC electronic health records
- Float to other units within the facility as needed based on census and staffing requirements
Required Qualifications- Active RN license valid in Virginia or a valid compact license (must be in hand at time of submittal)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, with specialty experience within the last year
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- EPIC electronic health records experience
- NIH stroke scale education and stroke education completed
- Valid Social Security Number required at time of submittal
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience across multiple ICU subspecialties (surgical, medical, cardiac, or oncology critical care)
- Flexible scheduling availability with ability to minimize time-off requests during assignment
- Experience caring for neurological patients including stroke and post-operative neurosurgical populations
