Key Responsibilities
Provide direct critical care nursing to a diverse ICU patient population including neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patients
Manage ventilator-dependent patients and perform IV drip titration
Monitor and interpret telemetry, identify dysrhythmias, and respond to emergency situations
Perform and assist with EVD management, conscious sedation, and post-neurosurgical care
Float as needed to Stepdown Unit and support ICU-level patients held in ED or Med-Surg settings
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records system
Required Qualifications
Active Virginia RN license or valid Compact RN license — must be in hand at time of submission; no exceptions
BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
NIHSS certification required
Strong neuroscience experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke care
Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records — no exceptions
Must pass a pre-start EKG/telemetry competency test with a score of 80% or higher (one attempt; no remediation available)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Minimum 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
Prior travel nursing experience preferred
