Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardio Thoracic ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: - Minimum two years of CVICU experience required. - Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required. - Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred. - Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. License: - Valid RN license required. Certifications: - AHA BLS and ACLS required. - Traveler will be required to pass a Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start. Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred. - Patient ratio experience of 2-3 preferred. - Charting experience with Epic required. - Travel experience required. Description: Night shifts are 12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30. Every other weekend and some holidays are required. No call is expected. CVICU team specializes in care for cardiac surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and cardiac medical patients. Common patient diagnoses include CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, and heart failure. The unit consists of 27 private rooms capable of ICU level care. Nurses typically care for 1-2 patients, with potential assignments of up to 3 patients when acuity is low. Team includes charge RNs and a Rapid Response Nurse, ensuring adequate support during shifts. Special procedures and emergent admissions are common. Staff are encouraged to engage in interdisciplinary support for enhanced patient care. Key skills include monitoring hemodynamics, managing ventilators, and administering emergency medications. Technical expertise is crucial, along with a commitment to patient and family needs. Telemetry competency is required for all staff members. Passing a telemetry exam is required prior to starting. Travelers may be floated based on staffing needs, and must be adaptable to shifts in assignments.
