Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of prior experience in a large, urban hospital required License: Active RN License required Certifications: - Active AHA BLS - ACLS - CCRN (strongly preferred) - NIHSS (strongly preferred) Must-Have: - Epic charting experience - 100% nicotine-free facility Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a critical care unit specializing in stepdown critical care. The unit provides care to patients requiring an intermediate level of care between intensive care and progressive care. Nursing staff and intensivists collaborate to deliver exceptional care to patients and their families. Patient safety is the top priority. The patient population includes traumas, surgical patients, transplants, lung disorders, and those on ventilators. Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4 during both day and night shifts. Frequent floating to other units may be required to meet hospital staffing needs. Floating may include various designated units. The schedule requires working four weekend shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period. Weekend shifts include Saturday and Sunday day shifts or Friday and Saturday night shifts. Travelers must be prepared to work two out of three major holidays. RTO (Requested Time Off) restrictions allow for two weeks of RTO submission with the application. Preferred qualifications include previous charge experience and trauma level II experience. Mandatory skills include managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, care of ventilated patients, and understanding of isolation precautions. This position will involve a daily census averaging eleven patients. Interdisciplinary support includes various healthcare teams like physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The unit consists of 12 beds dedicated to critical care. Candidates must meet all health and compliance requirements to ensure a safe work environment. All applicants must adhere to the non-smoking policy throughout the facility.
