About the Position

Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Oxnard, CA

Start Date: 05-11-2026

End Date: 08-10-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, self-scheduling when possible, every other weekend, holidays per perm staff rotation

Hours per Week: 36

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Deliver critical care to ICU and CCU patients including neuro surgery cases, open heart recoveries, and ventilator management
  • Manage vasoactive drips, titrate medications like norepinephrine and propofol with precision
  • Read tele strips independently and respond swiftly to patient needs
  • Collaborate with hospitalists, RTs, and pharmacy for optimal outcomes
  • Float to IMCU or Observation to support the team where needed most
  • Mentor nurse aides and contribute as charge nurse when called upon

Education

  • RN degree from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise in managing vents, balloon pumps, and impellas
  • Proficiency with common ICU drips and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Ability to handle ICP monitoring and post-craniotomy care
  • Strong assessment skills for diverse patient diagnoses

Requirements

  • Active RN license
  • At least 3 years of ICU experience required, travel experience preferred
  • Certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • Comfortable with Cerner EMR a big plus
  • Skills in neuro or cardiac ICU cases highly valued
