Job Title: Critical Care Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in ICU License: Texas RN or multi-state RN license Certifications: ACLS and BLS certifications required Must-Have: - 3 years recent RN ICU experience in an acute care or LTAC facility setting - Experience with ventilators, tracheostomies, wound care, and central lines - Certifications must be attached Description: Critical care registered nurses provide care in settings where patients have suffered severe medical issues. Specific duties and responsibilities include assessing a patient’s condition and planning care. Treating wounds and providing advanced life support are essential tasks. Assisting physicians in performing procedures is part of the role. Observing and recording patient vital signs is a key responsibility. Ensuring that medical equipment functions properly and adjusting as needed is critical. Administering intravenous fluids and medications is a daily task. Suctioning is also part of the job. Collaboration with fellow members of the critical care team is important. Responding to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols is required. Acting as a patient advocate is essential. Providing education and support to patient families is a key responsibility. Critical care nurses may care for pre-and post-operative patients. Some may serve as case managers and policy makers while performing administrative duties.
