Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days/Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year ICU experience preferred License: Current State License as a Registered Nurse required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required upon hire, PALS required upon start date Must-Have: Ability to float to Medical-Surgical unit is required Description: The RN renders collaborative nursing care via the defined department Method of Practice. The RN will manage a caseload of patients for an assigned shift. Care will be provided in accordance with the medical staff practitioner’s treatment plan. The RN adheres to nursing standards of care and professional code of ethics. The RN is committed to promoting the health potential of the patient through the nursing process. Demonstrates the ability to delegate appropriately. Directs staff in the coordination and delivery of care. Assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with others in problem resolution. Sensitivity to the needs of patients, families, and fellow employees is essential. Reports directly to the Manager of ICU & Acute/Subacute Services. Reports indirectly to the Director of Nursing. Takes daily direction from the Manager of ICU & Acute/Subacute Services and the House Supervisor. Collaborates with all members of the health care team in the coordination of patient care. Delegates and directs the assigned shift caseload team, which may include other nursing staff. This position involves tasks that may expose the RN to blood, body fluids, or tissues. The RN must interpret the appropriate life span needs of patients. Provides appropriate population-based care according to department skills checklist. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients and families. Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s life span.
