Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Float Pool Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License from the applicable state Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support and ACLS certifications required Must-Have: - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services - Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to respond effectively to diverse cultural and language needs of patients Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families to share care plans while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Must have experience with trauma and be able to float to acute care units. Specifically floats to surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty, step-down, and cardiac units. Experience with tracheostomy and high-flow therapy is required. Familiarity with infusion therapies is expected. May be floated to lower acuity areas as needed.
