Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years of ICU experience License: Michigan Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS Must-Have: Comfortable with floating to ED and Step down Description: Collaborates with a physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, OB Care Associates, Surgical Service Assistants, Nursing Clerks, and Psychiatric Technicians. Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan. Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice. Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments of nursing care. Facilitates and participates in patient conferences. Identifies and provides the means to meet patients' ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons. Attends discharge/transfer planning conferences. Assumes responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing available programs. Teaches and guides professional and ancillary personnel. Precepts and mentors new employees and students. Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
