Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of recent ICU experience required License: License to practice as a Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Driver's license required Description: Interview with unit leaders required. Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails may lead to termination of contract. RNs must pass a skills exam during orientation. It is an open book exam on skills learned with necessary resources provided. A score of 90% is required to pass or termination will ensue. The unit accommodates adults and pediatrics over 15 years old. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, and stroke. Additional diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, renal failure, and various surgeries. All necessary training will be provided in real-time for specific procedures. RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and sedation. A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes on responsibilities. Patient care techs and nurse aides are available to assist, with dedicated ratios. RNs are involved with various respiratory equipment and require troubleshooting skills. Technology support is present for heart monitoring but RNs must interpret strips. Shifts run from 0630-1830 and 1830-0630, with scheduling based on unit needs. Every other weekend shift and holiday requirements apply. RNs may float to all inpatient units, excluding select departments. Scrub color is navy blue. The unit is fast-paced, necessitating strong critical thinking skills. Attributes for success include a positive attitude and team collaboration. Requests for time off should be communicated upfront and on a limited basis. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
