Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the employer, including all related entities. Description: Candidates must adhere to facility policies regarding artificial nails in departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will result in contract termination. A driver’s license is required for submission. Candidates must complete a pass/fail exam during orientation. They will be provided with resources to help them succeed. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2, with adjustments for downgrades. Common diagnoses in the unit include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro. RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and insulin. The unit has a charge nurse on each shift, who does have an assignment. Patient care techs are present, with a ratio of 1 tech for up to 20 patients and 2 techs for up to 24 patients. There is critical care coverage available 24/7. RNs must troubleshoot equipment such as vents and BiPAPs. RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Shifts run from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700. Schedulers coordinate shifts for the unit. Weekend requirements are every other week. Holiday requirements vary based on unit needs. Floating to other units is expected. Scrub color is navy blue. There is a limit of 7 days of requested time off for a 13-week contract. Additional requested time off will not be approved. The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting will be done using the designated electronic system. A BSN is not required for this position. The trauma level is 2. The care setting is acute. The division is nursing.
