Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to titrate drips and interpret telemetry strips Description: Registered Nurses will be working in an Intensive Care Unit with an average daily census of 16 patients. The ratio is 1:2-3 for adult patients. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac conditions, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, and heart failure. RNs are required to titrate various drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides will assist based on census and volume. The unit utilizes various respiratory therapy equipment and RNs are responsible for troubleshooting these devices. Self-scheduling is allowed for core staff, while travelers may have different scheduling requirements. Holiday commitment is required for a minimum of 2 holidays within the contract timeframe. Weekend scheduling is expected every other weekend. RNs are required to interpret and document telemetry strips. Floating may occur to PCU or MedSurg units, maintaining similar patient ratios. Request time off must be submitted upfront and additional time off will not be approved after submission. Shifts are typically 0630-1830 and 1830-0630. Candidates must adhere to established policies regarding artificial nails and will complete a pass/fail exam during orientation.
