Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to pass a skills exam Description: Registered Nurses will work in a critical care environment. The unit consists of 33 beds with an average daily census of 16. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:2-3 for adult patients. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac conditions, overdoses/substance abuse, sepsis, and various vascular cases. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips as needed, which may include cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are available based on patient census and may assist on the floor as needed. Registered Nurses will be responsible for reading, interpreting, and documenting telemetry strips. Floating to the PCU or Med-Surg may occur, maintaining similar patient ratios. Minimum holiday and weekend requirements apply during the contract period. Registered Nurses are expected to manage patient care equipment and perform troubleshooting as necessary. The charting system used is EPIC. A professional commitment to patient care and teamwork is essential for success in this role.
