Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Artificial nails are not permitted in departments providing patient care. Description: Candidates must not be employed as full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility. Candidates must have a driver's license and be located outside a specified radius. Refusal to comply with nail policies may result in contract termination. RNs must pass an evaluation during orientation. This will be an open-book exam on the skills learned. A score of 90% is required to pass. Blocked scheduling is typically not approved unless it is weekends only. No guarantees for scheduling preferences for pairs sharing transportation. If placed on-call, RNs must arrive within 30 minutes if called back in. The unit has 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3 for adults. Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose, sepsis, post-stent, and stroke. RNs are required to titrate drips and handle various titratable or set rate drips such as cardiac and insulin drips. Nurse aides are available and may assist based on patient census. Healthcare support personnel are present three days per week. RNs will troubleshoot respiratory equipment. Shifts are from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630. Self-scheduling is available for core staff, while travelers may be added in. Monitors are used, and RNs must read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. RNs may float to other units, typically PCU or MedSurg, maintaining similar patient ratios. A minimum of two holidays during the contract period is required. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. A total of one unit-specific orientation shift is provided. Requests for time off must be upfront, and additional time off will not be approved. The facility reserves the right to cancel a limited number of shifts during the contract. The charting system is EPIC. A BSN degree is not required. This position is in an acute care setting. The trauma level is 2.
