Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: BSN required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Candidates must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility. - Driver's license required and will be used to determine eligibility based on distance. - No artificial nails allowed in patient care departments. - Candidates must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%. - Block scheduling is not guaranteed except for weekends. - Candidates must provide Return to Office requests upfront with a maximum of 7 days for the 13-week contract. - Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment. Description: The ICU department has 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3 for adult patients. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, adult sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse Aides are available based on census, and healthcare support technicians work 3 days per week. RNs are responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment, including vents and high-flow oxygen. Shifts are from 0630 to 1830 or 1830 to 0630. Self-scheduling is available for core staff, with an inability to guarantee block scheduling. RNs must read, interpret, and document telemetry strips, with oversight from telemetry technicians. Floating is typical to other units with equivalent patient ratios. Holiday requirements include working a minimum of 2 holidays within the contract timeframe. Weekend requirements entail working every other weekend.
