Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS & TNCC preferred Must-Have: ICU experience with experience in drips, vents, and BiPAPs Description: This position involves working in an Intensive Care Unit. Registered Nurses must pass a skills exam during orientation. The exam is open book and requires a minimum score of 90% to pass. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply will result in termination of the contract. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1. Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and myocardial infarction. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and sedatives. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who also takes an assignment. Hospitalists are in-house 24/7, and intensivists are available during the day and via telemedicine at night. Respiratory Therapy is shared with another department and does not have dedicated staff in the ICU. Centralized telemetry monitoring is available, and the nurse must be able to read and verify strips. The shift hours are from 18:30 to 07:00 with a requirement for every third weekend. There is no self-scheduling and block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Floating to Progressive Care is required if needed. Dress code consists of navy blue scrubs. The position requires a commitment to high standards of patient care and teamwork.
