Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Pass/Fail exam during orientation - 90% required to pass the exam Description: This position is for an ICU Registered Nurse. The average daily census is 16 with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adults. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose, sepsis, post-stent care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips and manage common titratable and set rate drips such as cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. There are nurse aides available based on census. RNs will assist in direct patient care as needed. The team will also include healthcare support technicians available three days per week. RNs are expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment as necessary, including nasal cannula to vent. Self-scheduling is utilized for core staff. RNs may need to float to other units such as PCU and MedSurg with similar ratios. A minimum of two holiday shifts are required during the contract period. Weekend coverage is scheduled every other week. RTO requests must be presented upfront; additional requests cannot be approved post-submission. The charting system utilized is EPIC. This is a trauma level 2 care setting.
