Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 hours, Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS; PALS and TNCC preferred Must-Have: ICU experience with experience in drips, vents, and BiPAP Description: RN's must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation. This is an open book exam on skills learned. Candidates are provided with all necessary resources to pass. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination. Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles. Candidates cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility within the past year. A driver's license is required for candidates. Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments. Refusal to remove nails may lead to termination. Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and myocardial infarction. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2 but can stretch to 1:3. Floating to a lower level of care, including PCU and Medsurg, may occur. Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7 in-house, with intensivists available during day hours and through telemedicine at night. Respiratory therapy is not present in-house 24/7, as it is shared with the emergency room. Registered nurses will be required to read and verify their own telemetry strips, even though centralized tele monitor techs are not located in-house. There is no self-scheduling. Weekend requirements include working every third weekend. Holiday requirements include working on the 4th of July. There are no call or standby requirements. Navy blue scrubs are required. Trainers will provide support for any floating or training if needed. Charting system used is Epic.
