Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Coronary Care ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: BSN Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Level I Trauma Experience, Pass Dysrhythmia Exam prior to Acceptance, Natural Hair Color, No Facial Piercings, Clean Shaved for Fit Test Description: The manager will consider candidates with Level 2 experience. Candidates with ICU experience caring for cardiac patients are also eligible, no need to come from a CVICU floor. The facility relies on pre-screening by clinical teams to send candidates for approval. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong IV skills. The nursing staff is expected to complete tasks such as Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Each nurse must maintain a sterile field and demonstrate competency in these procedures. The expectation is for all nurses to be capable of performing essential nursing skills frequently on the unit. The unit has a high acuity with patients including those recovering from cardiac surgery. Common diagnoses include Empellas, IABP, CRRT, lung transplants, and various thoracic surgeries. The ratio of patients to nurses may vary from 1:1 to 1:2. There is an expectation to float to other units as needed. The unit utilizes Cerner for charting. Daily tasks may include bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy, Swans, and epidurals. Team collaboration is crucial, with intensivists available during the day and on call at night. Work schedules include 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week rotation and holiday work as part of the rotation. The dress code for the unit is navy scrubs.
