It includes caring for a range of critical patients including those with sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, COPD, respiratory failure, kidney failure, liver failure, and gastrointestinal bleeds. Cardiac patients may include those with congestive heart failure and post-cardiac catheterization. Trauma cases include gunshot wounds, stabbings, and falls. Surgical patients will primarily focus on GYN and gastrointestinal issues. Neurological cases will involve subdural hematomas, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and transient ischemic attacks. The expected patient ratio is 1:1 to 1:3. Team nursing is implemented for patients exceeding two in the ICU. Long-term ventilated patients are managed and require collaboration with medical-surgical nursing staff. This setting provides support from charge nurses usually taking patient assignments. 1-2 CNAs are available per shift, along with centralized telemonitoring. Respiratory therapy coverage is available 24/7, as well as hospitalists and intensivists. Occupational, physical, and speech therapy services are also available during the day. Familiarity with EMR systems is essential. Experience with IV pumps and medication dispensing systems is preferred. Expected duties include surgical recovery and medication titration for sedation and pressors. Candidates may be required to float within their scope of practice, which includes medical-surgical units. The schedule will include weekend rotations and one holiday per contract. Scheduling is managed in 6-week increments. Scrub color must be any solid color, professional style, with no graphics or logos.
