Job Title: Critical Care Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience in a hospital setting License: Must have a valid RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC preferred but not required Must-Have: Candidates may be responsible for caring for pediatric and adolescent patients occasionally. Must be able to float between campuses if required. Description: Critical care registered nurses provide care for patients with severe medical issues. This includes managing conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, severe trauma, and respiratory distress. Duties include assessing patient conditions and implementing care plans. Registered nurses are responsible for treating wounds and providing advanced life support. They assist physicians during procedures and observe vital signs. Ensuring medical equipment functions properly is part of their responsibilities. They administer intravenous fluids and medications as needed. Collaboration with the critical care team is essential. In life-saving situations, they respond according to nursing standards and protocols. Registered nurses act as patient advocates and provide education and support to families. They may also care for pre-operative and post-operative patients. Some nurses may take on case management and administrative duties as required.
