Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights EOW Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Active RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Required Must-Have: - At least 2 years of ICU experience. - Strong skills in critical care. - Ability to titrate drips. Description: Unit profile review and manager interview required. Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts. A score of 80% or higher is necessary to proceed. Failure to meet this requirement will result in a six-month restriction on reapplication for similar positions. Radius rule: Candidates who have worked at any associated facilities in the past year are not eligible. Unit operates with a combined acuity level. Patient ratios vary by acuity. ICU patient ratio is 1:2. PCU patient ratio is 1:4. MST patient ratio can be as high as 1:5-6. No nurse aid will result in a 1:3 primary care ratio. Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory arrest, and post-operative complications. RNs are required to titrate drips, which may include sedation and vasopressors. Charge RN manages a large number of inpatient beds, including various acuities. Nurse aides assist with patient care, though RNs may take on additional responsibilities if aides are unavailable. Respiratory therapy equipment is available and will support the nursing staff. Remote monitoring technology is utilized for patient care. Registered nurses must be capable of performing 12-lead EKGs. Shifts are 12 hours, with weekend requirements every other weekend. Holiday rotation is mandatory. In cases of low census, staff may rotate standby responsibilities. Floating to different units is required to maintain competency. Dressing code allows for various scrub colors, excluding camouflage. Unit-specific orientation is part of the onboarding process. Charting system used is Cerner.
