Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience - Experience in either neuro or cardiovascular cases - Ability to titrate drips - Charge nurse experience Description: This position requires a full 3 years of recent ICU experience to be considered with no exceptions. Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular cases. A dysrhythmia exam is required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance of the position with a maximum of 2 attempts. There will be a pass/fail skills lab on the first day of orientation. The ICU specializes in trauma and neuro-surgery cases. The unit has 32 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:1. RNs are required to interpret their own telemetry strips using GE monitors. There are no monitor techs on the unit, and RNs must float to other sister facilities as needed. Self-scheduling is available, but the manager may balance shifts according to unit needs. Weekend requirements include three weekend shifts in a four-week schedule. Holiday requirements may allow for one holiday off during the assignment. No additional on-call or standby shifts are required, but low census may occur. RNs will assess and care for a variety of patient diagnoses, including trauma, sepsis, and ARDS. There is a Respiratory Therapist available in the ICU 24/7. Expectations include floating between sister units as needed, with training and validation for trauma and specialty devices. The charting system used in this role is Cerner. This position offers the opportunity to work in an acute care setting with a diverse patient population.
