Serves a diverse population with various healthcare needs. The role involves delivering coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Responsibilities include supervising and directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, coordinating care with other disciplines, and utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment. Essential functions include collecting relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues. Develop plans that prescribe interventions to attain outcomes. Implement the plan, coordinate care delivery, and employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluate progress toward attaining outcomes. Identify outcomes for the patients' situations. Collaborate with a team of patients, families, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Participate in discharge planning to provide continuity of care. Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
