The nurse will work with patients who require intensive monitoring and care for conditions including acute respiratory failure, post cardiac arrest, and complex medical and surgical needs. There is a high population of patients with drug overdoses. The nurse must be proficient in managing ventilated patients and performing emergency procedures as needed. Flexibility to float to various units may be required. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential for patient care. Emergency interventions and adherence to protocols for conditions like severe sepsis and shock are critical components of this role. Strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple high-stress situations are necessary. The nurse will be expected to comply with infection prevention protocols and maintain strict isolation precautions when required.
