Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: First-timers accepted. Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. Staffing and scheduling may require regular floating between departments, units, and facilities as needed. Description: The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit provides direct patient care to critically ill patients. The average daily census is 10 with a total of 12 beds. The nurse will manage patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring advanced cardiac support. Demonstrated skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management are essential. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring central venous pressures and managing IV insulin protocols. Experience with acute kidney injury and patient assessment is necessary. Familiarity with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients is required. The RN will administer blood products and manage central line, PICC line, and arterial line care. Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions is crucial. The ability to recognize and manage multi-system organ dysfunction and respond to acute emergencies is necessary. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems is required. The nurse will provide education and support to patients and families regarding diagnosis and treatment plans.
