Position Overview
United Health System is seeking an experienced ICU / PCU Float Registered Nurse for an exciting travel opportunity in Lufkin, Texas. This role is ideal for a skilled critical care nurse who is comfortable working in both Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings while managing complex patient conditions in a fast-paced acute care environment.

ICU Beds: 24
PCU Beds: 26
Patient Ratios:
ICU: 2:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
PCU: 4:1
Charting System: Paragon
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Patient Population
Common patient diagnoses include:
Post CABG or PCI cardiac patients
Sepsis
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Respiratory Failure
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide advanced patient care in ICU and PCU units
Monitor critically ill patients and respond quickly to changing conditions
Titrate critical drips including Levophed, Amiodarone, Heparin, Precedex, Propofol, Cardene, Nitro, Neosynephrine, Dopamine and others
Manage patients requiring respiratory support such as ventilators, BiPAP, and Airvo
Work collaboratively with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
Support & Resources
Intensivist on-site during the day and hospitalists available at all hours
Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
Monitor technicians with bedside and central monitoring systems
Charge nurse and house supervisor available each shift
Nurse aides available in PCU
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of Critical Care experience
Active RN License
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Experience managing ICU-level patients and titratable drips
Ability to float between ICU and PCU units
