Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $2,000 to $2,060 per week in Lufkin, TX

Position Overview
United Health System is seeking an experienced ICU / PCU Float Registered Nurse for an exciting travel opportunity in Lufkin, Texas. This role is ideal for a skilled critical care nurse who is comfortable working in both Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings while managing complex patient conditions in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Unit Details

• ICU Beds: 24

• PCU Beds: 26

• Patient Ratios:

  • ICU: 2:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)

  • PCU: 4:1

• Charting System: Paragon

• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Patient Population
Common patient diagnoses include:

• Post CABG or PCI cardiac patients

• Sepsis

• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)

• Respiratory Failure

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide advanced patient care in ICU and PCU units

• Monitor critically ill patients and respond quickly to changing conditions

• Titrate critical drips including Levophed, Amiodarone, Heparin, Precedex, Propofol, Cardene, Nitro, Neosynephrine, Dopamine and others

• Manage patients requiring respiratory support such as ventilators, BiPAP, and Airvo

• Work collaboratively with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams

Support & Resources

• Intensivist on-site during the day and hospitalists available at all hours

• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7

• Monitor technicians with bedside and central monitoring systems

• Charge nurse and house supervisor available each shift

• Nurse aides available in PCU

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of Critical Care experience

• Active RN License

• BLS and ACLS certifications required

• Experience managing ICU-level patients and titratable drips

• Ability to float between ICU and PCU units
