Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Neuro ICU License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Strong neuro critical care background - Experience in neuro intensive care unit - Experience with stroke patients, specifically ischemic and hemorrhagic Description: This position is for an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Neuro ICU. First-time travelers will not be accepted for this unit. The patient population comprises strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic), SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis. The unit is a comprehensive stroke center. Nurses will be responsible for managing ventilated patients and administering blood products. Candidates should be comfortable with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1, which may flex to 3:1 during high census. The average daily census is between 11-12 patients. Essential skills include management of dysrhythmias, interpretation of dysrhythmias, care for ventilated patients, and external ventricular drain management. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work with central line care, continuous IV sedation, ICP monitoring, and perform lumbar drain care. Isolation precautions and the use of PPE are required. Strong neuro experience is necessary, particularly in stroke patient management. Candidates must also have experience with standard ICU procedures and interventions. The unit utilizes various special equipment and charting systems. Nurses will be expected to float within or near the facility as needed. Weekend coverage will be required every other weekend. Call requirements are not applicable for this position.
