Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 Years Required License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Travelers must be willing to float across the ICU, medical-surgical, and PCU units. Candidates may be asked to float to the emergency department as needed. Experience in taking on higher patient ratios is necessary. First-time travelers are not accepted. Description: The position is for a critical care float nurse in the ICU. Candidates are to provide care in the ICU while floating to medical-surgical and PCU units, as well as the emergency department based on departmental needs. The daily patient population may include individuals with ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKIs, UTIs, and acute shock. Special skills required include management of ventilators, arterial lines, chest tubes, and care of critically ill patients. Exposure to procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, sheaths pulls, and cardioversion is important. Nurses should be experienced in administering blood products, managing IV medications, and performing EKGs. Candidates must adhere to isolation precautions and infection prevention guidelines. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and the ability to manage high-acuity patients effectively. The position requires the flexibility to meet the needs of the unit and workload effectively. Nursing staff are expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
