Must-Have:
Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips.
Telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
Management of dysrhythmias.
Use of Rapid Response Teams.
IV insulin protocols.
Blood Product Administration.
Central line care and management.
Peripheral line care and management.
PICC line management.
CVA management.
Chest tube management.
External CPAP/BIPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
Tracheostomy management.
Isolation precautions.
Description:
This position involves working in an Intermediate Care Unit that functions similarly to an ICU.
The ideal candidate will have strong drip experience.
The unit accepts first-time travelers and locals.
Required skills include management of cardiac drips without titration.
Candidates will manage various patient diagnoses, including post rapid response team patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-operative care.
Patient ages vary from adolescent to geriatric.
There is a target patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3-4.
Staff may need to float to a sister unit as required.
Weekend work will be required every other weekend.
Nurses must be able to recognize and treat dysrhythmias.
Special procedures include managing medication drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, and others, adhering to safety protocols.
Bedside telemetry monitors are used for patient monitoring.
Team support is available from various interdisciplinary services including pharmacy and respiratory services.
Only one pressor drip per patient is permitted; additional drips may necessitate transfer to the ICU.
A commitment to teamwork and patient care excellence is essential in this role.
