Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ventilator management IV medication titration Vasoactive drip titration Total care of critically ill patients Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival Description: The role involves providing care for adult surgical and medical ICU patients. Patient ratios are typically 1:2. Support on the unit may include a Charge Nurse, which may or may not have a patient assignment. Phlebotomy is limited to peripheral blood draws only. There is a round-the-clock respiratory therapist available. Hospitalists are also available in-house 24/7. The charting system in place is an electronic medical record system. Travelers may be required to float to other units, including step-down and medical-surgical. The schedule may include rotations of 3/2 or 5/2 with a weekend rotation every other week. Two out of three major holidays must be worked. Dress code includes pewter scrubs, gray, white, or black t-shirts with a specific monogram, and jackets must be in gray or black. Badges must be worn above the waist and visible at all times.
