The role requires the interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias. The nurse will manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and failure. Obtaining a 12 lead EKG/ECG is essential. Central Venous Pressure Monitoring is a critical skill required. Knowledge of IV insulin protocols is necessary. Experience with liver failure, acute kidney injury, and renal failure is needed. Monitoring intake and output is an important responsibility. The nurse must assess urine output and manage ports. Arterial line management is expected. Blood product administration and central line care are essential duties. Starting and maintaining IVs is a key skill required. Experience with TPN/Lipids is advantageous. The nurse should be familiar with continuous IV sedation. Emergency medication administration is important. The role includes procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips is necessary. The nurse will assist with chest tube insertion and removal. Management of BiPAP/CPAP and care of ventilated patients is expected. High Flow Nasal Cannula management is part of the role. Interpretation of arterial blood gases is crucial. The nurse will manage pulmonary edema and pulmonary embolism. Recognition and management of respiratory failure is required. Suctioning experience is needed, including endotracheal and nasotracheal suctioning. Infection prevention measures must be adhered to. Experience with INR management and isolation precautions is important. Managing high-output drains is a responsibility of the role. Phlebotomy skills are necessary. Knowledge of PT/PTT is required. Recognition of infections in immunosuppressed patients is essential. This position will involve caring for patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, DKA, COPD, and heart failure. Special procedures include central line insertion, chest tubes, arterial lines, and invasive monitoring. The candidate should be comfortable using equipment such as HelloCare and Tele-ICU. Floating to other units may be required if necessary. Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per contract. Candidates must be open to floating within or near the facility per job description.
