Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS Must-Have: Experience with all potential ICU diagnoses High volume of ventilators and arterial lines Experience with titration of continuous infusions of sedation agents, pain medications, paralytics, and vasopressors Description: Registered Nurse needed for the Intensive Care Unit. Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience. Accepts first-time travelers. Patient population includes adults to geriatrics. Experience managing a high volume of ventilators and arterial lines is essential. Candidate must have experience with titration of continuous infusions of sedation agents, pain medications, paralytic agents, and vasopressors. Agency registered nurses are not permitted to care for patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy unless they demonstrate competency on the specified CRRT machine. Multidisciplinary rounds are conducted each morning with various healthcare professionals, including intensivists and bedside RNs. Transporting patients, such as transfers to CT, is the responsibility of the bedside RN, technician, and respiratory therapist if the patient is on a ventilator. Nightshift nurse practitioners place central lines, vascular catheters, arterial lines, attend all codes, and address ICU care issues. They also admit patients to the ICU and are the primary point of contact before consulting an intensivist. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3. Experience with various critical care procedures and monitoring equipment is required.
