Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: EPIC experience required Charge experience preferred Float required: IMC/PCU/Step Down Every other weekend required Description: The ICU nursing staff provides care to adult critical patients aged 18 years and over. Patients present with medical/surgical, neurological, and cardiac diagnoses that require specialized care. Staff will manage a patient ratio of 1:2. The unit has 32 beds equipped with bedside and remote telemetry capabilities. Responsibilities include administering cardiac and intensive insulin drips. Nurses will also administer heparin drips and provide continuous sedation. Nutritional support via TPN and tube feedings is part of the care delivered. Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) may be performed on the unit. Special procedures also include prone positioning for respiratory complications. Wound care and mass transfusion therapy are additional responsibilities. Nurses will operate specialized equipment such as CRRT machines and rapid infusers. The interdisciplinary team includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy among others. Patient care will involve monitoring and managing complex cases with multisystem organ dysfunction. Emphasis is placed on infection prevention and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Nurses may also be involved in procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Effective communication and teamwork are essential in this high-acuity environment.
